Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.
(Col. 1:13 KJV)

God rescued us from the dominion of darkness and has brought us safe and sound into the kingdom of his dear Son, Jesus. Darkness has to do with all things that hurt and oppress and steal creativity from us. God has delivered us from the control of that darkness. He has uprooted us from the dark kingdom of sin and death and planted us in His kingdom of light and love.

The Message Bible says: God rescued us from dead-end alleys and dark dungeons. He's set us up in the kingdom of the Son he loves so much.

Another way to say it is God has made us free from the powers of evil. He has rescued us from the dark power of Satan. Things that bound us can no longer hold us because we are free of all forces that confine and limit us. Trusting Jesus is how we got translated into God's kingdom of light. Our choice to let Jesus be the king our lives is the key.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
Darkness has no power or authority over me because I am a member of the kingdom of God's love.
