Healing belongs to every child of God and it is your right to live in health every day of your life just because you belong to the family of God. Jesus paid the price for you to be healed and He gains no glory when any of His children live less than the life of health He provided for His own.

God's Word shows us several methods whereby His children may be healed, for He wants His children to be able to receive healing, no matter what their level of spiritual development; every believer should be able to "hook on" to one of the different methods of divine healing.

In this teaching, however, we wanted to focus on how to keep your healing once you have received it.

No matter what method was used whereby you received your healing, whether through the laying on of hands, the prayer of agreement, the prayer of faith, a healing cloth, etc..., we know that the enemy will try to steal your healing from you. But the Word of God instructs us what to do so that we maintain the healing we have received.

Hold Fast
Many believers falsely think that once they receive their healing that there is nothing left to do, but the Bible warns us, "Hold fast that which is good" (1 Thess. 5:21), and "Hold that fast which thou hast..." (Rev. 3:11).

These instructions let us know that something is going to try to take from us what we have received, or else we wouldn't need to "hold fast." There is an enemy arrayed against us who wants to steal our healing from us. In James 4:7, we are instructed to, "...Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Many times, believers aren't missing it in the area of faith, but are missing it in the area of resisting the devil as they should.

Remember this - we are not the sick trying to get healed; we are the healed and the devil wants to make us sick! As we obey the instructions of the Word, the enemy will be unsuccessful in his efforts because he is defeated. No matter what you feel, you are to still believe that Jesus purchased your healing; therefore, you are healed NOW!

"This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith" (1 John 5:4). Sickness, disease, and failure belong to the world, but we are not of this world and by holding fast to God's Word, our faith overcomes what is in this world.

Taking God's Medicine
Many Christians have lost their healing due to a lack of knowledge regarding God's Word on the subject of healing. The devil takes advantage of their lack of knowledge and is able to hold them in a place of defeat, but the Word tells us what to do so that we don't lose our healing. Proverbs 4:20-22 tells us,
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health (medicine) to all their flesh.
God's Word is health (in the original Hebrew, it's the same word for medicine) to all our flesh. To those who are well, the Word is health—it keeps them well; but to those who are sick, it's the medicine that makes them well. For medicine to work, it must be taken over and over again. If a person quits taking their medicine, they will again become sick.

Even so, if we quit taking the medicine of the Word, we will lose our health. In other words, keep taking your medicine—the medicine of the Word - and don't ever stop! Medicine must be taken as directed for it to be effective. God's Word is no different.

Someone may ask, "Isn't it difficult to keep your eyes off of your body when you're in pain?"

The way to keep your focus off your body and what it may be feeling is to keep yourself soaked in God's Word. Colossians 3:16 instructs us to, "Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly…." Keep God's Word in your mouth and His praises on your lips and you will see yourself rise above that which tries to come against you.

When you keep God's Word in your heart, then you'll also keep God's Word in your mouth. Everyone always speaks what they believe; by keeping your heart filled with God's Word, then you also keep your mouth filled with right words.

Meditate on the Word
In Joshua 1:8, God told Joshua, "This book of the law shall not depart out of they mouth; but thou shalt MEDITATE therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

Meditating on God's Word is one of the key ingredients that will enable you to live in the victory heaven has provided for you. The greatest spiritual growth and development takes place in the life of the believer who takes time to daily meditate on God's Word.

To meditate means "to mutter to yourself, to think deeply into." When you meditate on God's Word, you are to take a scripture that speaks to your need and speak it over and over again to yourself, allowing the Holy Spirit to open it up to you.

Memorization of scriptures is good and fine, but the word "memorize" isn't in the Bible, for that is just an action of the mind. But meditating on God's word is an action of your spirit.

When you meditate on God's Word, it puts you in that verse and it puts that verse in you. The Word becomes real to you; it becomes alive. Meditating on God's Word helps you to "own" it, and you know that you can't spend something you don't own. Many people have learned to confess God's Word, but sometimes with little results, because they haven't taken the time to meditate on it first and to make it real to their own hearts.

Take time each day to meditate on God's Word. It will cause the power of God to work mightily in you.

Free From Fear
Another factor that the devil uses to try to bring sickness back on people is to get them in fear; fear of being sick or fear of sickness coming back on them. But no fear is from God. God's Word tells us, "For God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Tim. 1:7) Fear is a spirit and must be resisted, but as it is resisted we can be assured that it will flee from us, for God's Word tells us so.

Yes, fear comes knocking on the door of everyone, but refuse to let it in. It doesn't matter if you literally feel the presence of it; speak to it, tell it to go and it will flee!

Where To Go After You're Healed
It's important to note from God's Word a very vital point. When the New Testament records the healings of individuals, many times it also shows what they did after they were healed. The lame man at the gate Beautiful went into the temple with Peter and John after he was raised up. (Acts 3:8) The lame man Jesus healed, who had been lying by the pool of Bethesda, was found later that day by Jesus in the temple. (John 5:14) The ten lepers Jesus healed were told to go and show themselves to the priest. (Luke 17:14) Many more healings that occurred under Jesus' earthly ministry took place in the temple or took place in a different location where He was teaching God's Word.

What am I trying to show you from these passages? It matters where you go after you are healed. Many people come to church to get in a healing line so hands can be laid on them, but they never intend to be faithful to church attendance after they're healed. Most often, those people will lose their healing, for they never develop spiritually and the devil takes advantage of their lack of faith and their lack of Bible knowledge and puts sickness back on them.

You Need A Pastor
Some people may say, "Well, I don't have to go to church to be saved!"

No, you don't, but you do have to go to church to grow up spiritually and to develop spiritually, and you do have to go to church to obey God's Word, for Hebrews 10:25 tells us to not neglect the assembling of ourselves together. Plus, remember what Luke 4:16 tells us: that it was Jesus' custom (or habit) to go to the synagogue. Therefore, if Jesus needed to go to church, you need to go to church!

Some wrongly claim, "Well, I can be as good of a Christian as anybody else without going to church!"

No you can't. You'll be spiritually weak without being in a church where the Word of God is taught. Christians who are not faithful to attend church are not living a victorious Christian life.

No sheep is safe without a shepherd. Every believer needs a shepherd! To maintain your healing, make sure you have a shepherd. Just attending church isn't enough. You have to be submitted to a shepherd and be faithful to that church, being a doer of the Word your shepherd teaches.

Not being faithful to attend a church and submit to your pastor will open the door for sickness to return.

A Church That Preaches Healing
After you're healed it's important that you not only have a shepherd, but that you have a pastor who teaches on the subject of divine healing.

If your church doesn't believe in divine healing, you'll lose your healing sitting in that church, for there's no faith for healing there. You need to be part of a local church where healing is believed and taught.

How can a child learn to read if his school doesn't teach him how to read? He can't! Likewise, how can believers live healthy lives if they attend churches that doesn't teach healing? They can't! The church you attend is a matter of life or death.

Many Christians have died prematurely because they sat in a church that didn't preach divine healing. God has provided healing for His children, for he doesn't want any of His family to be sick. God's healing power is a demonstration of His love for you.

Every day of your life, read, study and meditate on the subject of divine healing, be a doer of the Word, and you will see that your life will be lived in divine health.

Healing Scriptures
Here are some healing scriptures for you to meditate and stand on:
…Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness.
(Matt. 8:17)

Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
(1 Peter 2:24)

For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(Rom. 8:2)

He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
(Ps. 107:20)

Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy.
(Ps. 107:2)

Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed.
(Isa. 53:4-5)

And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and He shall bless thy bread and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee. There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfill.
(Ex. 23:25-26)

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony….
(Rev. 12:11)
