"The centurion answered and said, 'Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the Word only, and my servant shall be healed'" (Matt. 8:8)

What would you do if Jesus was coming to your house? Most of us would be excited. However, the centurion only wanted the Word. He understood Jesus, a man in authority. It is what this man said that caused Jesus to marvel. The centurion realized that Jesus spoke the Word, and that there is power in the Word.

The centurion was a man in authority of soldiers. He gave orders. Being a man in authority, he saw that Jesus was also a man in authority; in authority of His Words.

He recognized that Jesus didn't have to physically go to his house to heal the servant, but all He had to do was speak the Word and the servant would be healed. The centurion recognized that the power is in the Word. Speak the Word only, he said, and my servant will be healed. Why is that? The Word is the power for your life.

The Word is the power of God for whatever you need. Proverbs 4:20 says, "My son, attend to my Words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."

What you find here in Proverbs 4:20-27 is commonly called the law of receiving. It is clear, then, that the key to receiving is your attention to the Word of God. Incline your ears unto God's Word. Let them not depart from your eyes. The "them" refers to the Words. Keep "them" in the mist of your heart. If you do as the Scripture says, you will find life and health to all your flesh.

Life and health are in the Word of God. The original Hebrew Word for "health" is medicine. The Word is medicine to your flesh. Notice something about medicine. Usually the reason a person takes medicine is to feel better.

A person gets a headache then they take some pain relief medication. It goes into the body, immediately goes into the bloodstream, heads straight to the problem area and rids the body of pain.

Likewise, the Word of God is medicine to your flesh. When you put the Word of God in your heart, it goes straight to the problem area and kicks out whatever is causing the problem. Simply said, if you have doubt in your heart the Word comes in and gets rid of the doubt. It breaks it apart it kicks it out.

The Word is working in you. It is in you, breaking up the problem. It is working because the Word is the power. It is the power of God unto those that believe.
