library mothergoosebook"The Lord is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? For in the day of trouble, He will keep me safe in his dwelling. He will hide me in the shelter of His tabernacle and set me high upon a rock." (Ps. 27:1,5)

The Lord is the stronghold of our lives. That means He is our strength and stability, our ever-present help in times of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) He is our safe haven, our strong tower, and our fortress. He provides us with security, peace, and comfort. We can continually run to Him for protection from all harm.

Our God is a mighty fortress! He's a never-failing bulwark or support for us in times of trouble in life. The word "bulwark" is defined as a solid wall-like structure raised for defense. The Lord will defend us in the storms of life. He is also our defense against the enemy. In everything we do for His glory, God strengthens us for the task with His mighty power.

When you make God your stronghold in life, you will not waver in faith like you're on a spiritual roller coaster. No matter what happens or what doesn't happen, you can remain stable and immovable—protected because you abide in the secret place of the most High, "under the shadow of the Almighty." (Psalm 91:1)

When God is your strength and stronghold in life, nothing can affect you. Even when the devil tries to attack you, or when circumstances change, or when things don't go like you think they should, you can stand strong, knowing that nothing can shake you from God's firm and loving hold on your life.

We can always rest safe and secure by staying in God's stronghold of protection! What is God's stronghold of protection? It's found in His Word. It's found by dwelling in His Presence.

When you dwell in God's Presence, fortified with His Word, you gain courage and confidence in your God. You know He's faithful to take care of you in every situation.

Psalm 27:5 says, "For in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock."

The Bible says that in times of trouble, God will set us high upon a rock. Who is the Rock? His Name is Jesus! When God sets us high above circumstances on Jesus, the Rock of Ages, nothing can touch us because He is our protection.

The Bible also says that in times of trouble, God will hide us in His tabernacle or pavilion. What does that mean? Because we're saved, God dwells in us and we dwell in Him. We live and move and have our being in God. (Acts 17:28) God dwells in our tabernacle, our being, and we dwell in Him.

Have you made God the stronghold of your life? Make Him your strong tower so He can fortify and strengthen your life. Then you will dwell in safety and peace.
