A lot of people know about God, but they don't know enough about God so they can apply it to their lives and make a difference. That is the problem with a lot of people at churches. They hear a lot of preaching, but can't apply it to their lives.

"Directly discerning and recognizing my character ..." (Jer. 9:24 AMP). God is saying, "Look, I have given you my Word so you can know my character. Another word for character is disposition or nature. The more you get in My Word, the more you understand My nature. The more you get into My Word, the more you understand My heart. The more you get into My Word, the more you understand My disposition."

When you know somebody's character, it is a lot easier to trust them. God is saying, "Come and know my character. Come and know that you can trust Me with everything that you have."

But, you are not going to trust Him - you are not going to have great faith if you don't even know your great God. We have to learn about the character of God. God reveals that to us by his spirit. We need revelation knowledge of God's character. We need to understand His character so that we can do good things and have good things. God wants to reveal Himself to us.

I want you to know that getting revelation knowledge from God, getting the good treasure on the inside of you, is a two-part proposition. You have a part to play, and the Holy Spirit has a part to play. If we have a greater understanding of what the Holy Spirit's part is and what our part is, we can get this thing done. Lets find out what He does, and we can find out how we can cooperate with Him.

The Apostle Paul spent more time praying for others than he did himself. Most of us have family members who we know need Jesus, or family members who may know Jesus but don't act anything like Him. You are supposed to pray for them. Paul said, "I cease not."

Paul said I cease not to give thanks. Everyday I am thanking God. I am not saying, "God what is going on?" I am saying, "God I thank you that you have heard my prayers." Therefore, I know I have what prayed for. God, I thank you that it is so. I know it shall come to pass. I am not going to stop doing it. I am going to keep doing it.

The Amplified Bible says in Ephesians 1:18, that he may "grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation of insight into mysteries and secrets in the deep and intimate knowledge of him." How do we get this revelation knowledge? How is God giving it to us?

We know that the Holy Spirit reveals things to us - but how does he do it? By having the eyes of our understanding enlightened. The Amplified Bible says, by having the eyes of your heart flooded with light. He reveals things unto me by having the eyes of my understanding. How does the Holy Spirit give us the treasure of revelation knowledge? By having the eyes of our understanding enlightened.

"Then he said to them, 'These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you - That everything written about me in the Law of Moses, the prophets, and the psalms must be fulfilled.' Then he opened their minds to understanding the scriptures, and he said to them, 'Thus is it written, that the Messiah is to rise from the dead on the third day..." (Luke 24:44-45 NRSV)

He opened the door to the scriptures. He explained it in such way that their hearts understood it. Jesus opened up to their understanding, what it is God is saying about Himself. He opened up the word of God to him. When they had revelation knowledge of him, their hearts were burning.

When you have revelation knowledge of God's word, it is like burning fire on the inside. The prophet Jeremiah said it was like fire shut up in his bones. He had to let someone know about it because it was so real to him.

Jesus told his disciples over and over that he was going to die and rise again, that Satan was going to try to kill them, and that He was going to be victorious.

Their minds knew it. Somehow their hearts didn't. All the time Jesus was dying and rising again, they were acting in fear; they were acting like they didn't know what to do, as if they had no hope.

They were all shut up in one room. So Jesus shows up and says, let me show you and not just tell you. He opens their understanding. Now they can look in the Word and say, "Oh, the light came on." He turned the light on so that they could see what God said.

The Holy Spirit reveals things to you by having the eyes of your understanding enlightened. Now you have understanding on the inside. Now you can act on them.

When the Word of God is in me, or revealed to me, the light has come on. I can see on the inside that He is indeed my Healer, my Savior, and my Provider. The light has come on. I can see clearly.

For you to see what God said, somebody had to turn the light on. The Holy Spirit is the one who does it.

If you don't appreciate the Holy Spirit after this, you never will. He is a gift from God. He is God almighty. He has been given to you, to live inside of you so you can know God's thoughts and God's ways, so you can be successful.

"By you I can crush a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall. This God - his way is perfect; the promise of the Lord proves true; he is a shield for all who take refuge in Him. For who is God except the Lord? And who is a rock besides our God?" (Ps 18:29-31).

By God I can run through a whole army troop. I can go over a big wall. You need to let the Lord light your candle before you leap over that wall. You have a whole lot of flat-face Christians running right into the wall. They don't have revelation knowledge of the fact that He will make them leap over the wall and give them the ability to run through a troop, speak to a mountain and the mountain to move.

You better let Him show you exactly what He is saying about Himself. The Holy Spirit is the one who opens these doors unto you. He is the one who shows you who God is. The Holy Spirit is the one who opens the doors to God. Behind Door #1, you have Jesus your Savior. Behind door #2, you have Jesus your Healer. The Holy Ghost is the one who keeps opening the doors unto you so you can step right in and say I got it. The light is on.

Now I can run through a troop and I can leap over a wall. He is the one who does it, but you have to start knocking. You have to knock at the door, ask and it shall be given, seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be open unto you. Start knocking; say God open up unto me. The Holy Spirit will say here I am. Here he is. This is your Savior. This is your Redeemer. Your Healer. Then you can do what you need to do.

Let God light your candle. Let Him turn it on. When a candle is on, it is made of fire, so it is just like fire shut up in your bones. When you have the fire burning, when you have that understanding - that is when you will be successful. Let the Holy Spirit do his job in your life.
