For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(Heb. 4:12, NKJV)

This verse gives new meaning to our "pierced" culture! One of the first and most important revelations and convictions I received as a new Christian was the piercing power of God's Word! Maybe you need a reminder today?

The Bible is unlike any other book on the planet; it's alive! God actually speaks to our hearts through His Book. It's living and active and able to pierce!

God's Word has the supernaturally ability to pierce and divide between our thoughts and God's intentions in our hearts; between what our spirit knows is correct and what our soul desires. 

Do you need help discerning God's will? Trying to figure out what God is saying to your heart versus what your own thoughts are telling you? Are you facing a decision? Challenge? Need direction? Encouragement? Word from God? God will talk to you and pierce your heart as you read His Word!

This summer…how about we set aside USA Today, Oprah's Book Club recommendation, your favorite romance novel, Money magazine and Better Homes and Gardens – until we have first read our Bibles?

Father, I thank You for Your Word! It's living and active and You are still speaking to my heart today through the Bible. I believe it and I make a decision to spend time reading my Bible. I want You to pierce between my thoughts and heart and give me the direction and guidance I need from You! In Jesus' Name. Amen
