Yes, if we permit him! The devil and his demon helpers have the ability to put thoughts into our minds. We have the right and authority to resist those thoughts. Let's take note at how the devil influenced some Bible characters.
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him. These examples indicate that the devil has the ability to incite people. He actually can fill their hearts with wrong things. The only natural way for things to get into the heart is through the ears, and in a lesser way through the eyes.
(John 13:2)
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
(Acts 5:3)
What goes into the ears then registers in the mind. The devil can bypass our natural ears and inject thoughts into our mind. This is what he did with Judas Iscariot and Ananias.
Most Christians think that every thought that enters their minds is their own. The devil and his demon helpers are also injecting thoughts into their minds. Christians must determine what thoughts are good or bad and then deal with those that are bad. I like what this verse of Scripture declares.
In order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes (2 Cor. 2:11).
One of the many schemes of the devil is to deceive and torment people through the injection of wrong thoughts.
