"Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage" (Heb. 2:14-15).

Every fear that exists springs from that one basic fear: The fear of death. The Bible says Jesus destroyed Satan's authority over death, pulling the plug on fear forever. It doesn't have any rule over you.

If you allow fear in your life it will stop your faith, cut you off from God's power and put you back in slavery to your old way of doing things.

"Well, Kenneth, sometimes I just can't help being afraid."

Yes, you can! Sure, Satan is roaming around like an outlaw, killing, stealing and destroying (John 10:10), but he can't just come storming in anywhere he wants.

In fact, without fear, it's impossible for him to do anything...because, in this old world, fear plays the same role as faith does in—a supernatural world of light.

The bottom line is, if you stay with God, and stay with His promises, you can stop the fear. That's what Jesus told Jairus to do in Mark 5. Jairus had run into an impossible situation. His daughter was dying and there was nothing he could do to save her.

So, by faith, he connected to the supernatural. He came to Jesus and said, "If You'll put our hands on her, she'll live."

However, before Jesus reached the little girl, Satan took a shot and killed her. Someone even told Jairus, "Your daughter is dead. Why bother Jesus anymore?"

Do you know what Jesus said to him? He said, "Don't be afraid; just believe. " In other words, don't let fear unhook you, Jairus. Just be strong with faith, stay connected to the supernatural and everything will turn out all right.

Now if Jesus told Jairus not to be afraid, that means Jairus had the ability to stay unafraid. If he could throw out fear in the face of his own daughter's death, you can do it in your situation.

Just remember, God is on your side. What do you have to be afraid of?
