Is it important for Christians to have an expectancy that God will move in their lives in order for Him to move?

God can and does at times do things for people that they never expected Him to do. These things can be categorized as sovereign acts of God.

They could be a result of someone else's prayers for us, or God's desire to bless us for no apparent reason. We can increase the activity of God in our lives by our expectancy.

Here's an excellent biblical example:
For a woman whose young daughter had an unclean spirit heard about Him, and she came and fell at His feet. The woman was a Greek, a Syro-Phoenician by birth (not a Jew), and she kept asking Him to cast the demon out of her daughter.

But Jesus said to her, "Let the children (Jews) be filled first, for it is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the little dogs."

And she answered and said to Him, "Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs under the table eat from the children's crumbs."

Then He said to her, "For this saying go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter." And when she had come to her house, she found the demon gone out, and her daughter lying on the bed.
(Mark 7:25-30)
There is a lesson to be learned about persistence and expectancy from this account. This woman expected Jesus to heal her daughter. Her expectancy not only impressed Jesus, who at this time had only been sent to the Jews, but it also caused Him to heal her daughter.

We can increase our expectancy as we feed on the Word of God. God is able to do anything! Begin to expect the impossible.
