Did Satan, the devil, really become the god of this world when Adam and Eve sinned?

The phrase "the god of this world" refers to the devil being lord over those in the world. The following two Scriptures declare Satan is the god of this world.
But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age (world) has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
(2 Cor. 4:3-4 NKJ)

Again, the devil took Him (Jesus) up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me."

Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.'" Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
(Matt. 4:8-11 NKJ)
The devil is the god of this world, and the third temptation of Jesus makes it very clear. The devil couldn't tempt Jesus with something that wasn't the devil's originally.

Because the devil is the god of this world, he has the right to blind peoples' minds with lies and to motivate people with thoughts. It is Jesus that frees us from the devil's power when we pray and call on His name (Rom. 10:8-17).

"Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love" (Col. 1:12-13 NKJ).
