You were born with an ability to do something well. It may not be what my ability is. It may not be what someone else's ability is. But there's not a person on this planet who was born without an ability to do something well. It's up to you and me to find out what that ability is, tap into it, and then pursue it with everything that is in us.

Someone once made this statement: "The Lord never gives man the longing to do that which he has no ability to do." Whatever you long after, then God has given you the ability to achieve that. Colossians 1:9 says, "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding."

I like understanding and knowing the exact knowledge of God's will. When you know God's will, then it enables you to endure anything, no matter what kind of opposition or adversity you may experience. Once you know God's will, you can be confident that you can succeed, you can endure, and you can persevere because you are following after God's perfect will for your life.

God's best is for you and me to be successful in every endeavor that we pursue. It's never God's will that we win a few, and lose a few.

As I mentioned earlier, every person was born with the ability to do something well. Now the sad thing is, most people never find out what it is they're born to do, so consequently, they never excel in anything. To accomplish great things, there are some basic ingredients that you must have:

1. A dream.

2. You must believe that you have the God-given ability to fulfill that dream.

3. You must establish a plan of action for fulfilling that dream.

4. You must be willing to persevere, regardless of the opposition or the adversity that you might encounter.

There are many dreamers. In fact, I've met a lot of people who dream big dreams, but they don't believe that they can fulfill them. They've never established a plan of action, and they're not willing to persevere.

People who are no longer dreamers are people who are on their way to dying. If you lose the ability to dream, if you no longer have dreams, then you are shortening your life span. The Bible says that without a vision, the people perish. You have to keep dreaming. And then you have to be willing to do whatever it takes to fulfill that dream.

I love reading books about successful people, both in the secular realm and in the spiritual realm as well. I have yet to read the life story of a successful person who was not willing to endure hardships. Not one. I've never heard a "dreamer" say, "It's the easiest thing I've ever done." In fact, before I finish the book, I will have read hardship after hardship, trial after trial, adversity, setbacks, failures and defeats.

But the common thread in all of their lives is they were willing to endure hardship no matter what it took in order to make their dream a reality. You could say it this way: perseverance is the price of achievement.

In 2 Timothy 2:3 (KJV), the Apostle Paul says, "Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." The two words that have caused more failures in people's lives than any others are: I can't. The only limitations that you have are those that you have set up in your own mind or those which you have allowed others to set up for you. God didn't make you with limitations.

Get rid of the words, I can't. Don't ever say, "I can't take any more." You can take anything the devil can dish out. You can take everything he's capable of throwing at you because the Bible says in Philippians 4:13 (KJV), "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."

The Apostle Paul said it this way in 2 Corinthians 12:10 (KJV), "Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong." The greater the adversity, the greater the victory. Every test becomes a testimony when you're a real believer and a real dreamer.

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, "When it's the darkest is when men see the stars." We always think of darkness as that moment of our last breath. But when you have a positive attitude about life, you think, Hallelujah! Now we can see the stars!

When it's the darkest, that's when you can expect God to come through for you. Micah 7:8 (KJV) says, "When I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me."

Nothing in this life that is worth achieving is easy. If it was, when every person on this planet would be known as a great achievers because most people are looking for an easy way to do things.

If it's worthwhile, then there's going to have to be some determination, some endurance, some willingness to go through whatever is necessary in order to fulfill and achieve your dream.

You will never accomplish great things if you approach your dream halfheartedly or if you're constantly looking over your shoulders for an excuse to quit and give up. You just never know what you're capable of achieving until you are willing to give it all you've got.

Albert Einstein once said, "It's only the people who devote themselves to a cause with their whole life, everything that is in them, that become great achievers."

It's not enough just to possess a dream. You must believe that you can, through your God-given ability, fulfill that dream. Believing demands action. You can't just sit around waiting for it to come to pass. Dreamers are adventurers.

Dreamers are risk-takers. Dreamers are willing to lay it all on the line. God's best for our lives is success. God's best is for us to be achievers in every endeavor that we pursue.

Stay focused and don't let anything distract you. Someone once said, "The world steps aside to let the person pass who knows where he is going." You must mark out a course and hold to that course. Temporary setbacks should never distract you or take you off your course.

In Acts 20:24 (KJV) Paul says, "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself; so that I might finish my course with joy."

Whatever you set your heart upon will be yours. So start thinking, talking, and acting like a winner, and do what it takes to fulfill your God-given dream.
