In the recent past, I have been deeply impressed that we must reverence God more now than ever before. We must start seeking Him—not just so we can be successful in life or even so we can be successful in prayer.

We must seek Him for His own sake…because we love Him.

So many people just want words and action in prayer. They want information and methods that will help them pray more effectively. But they aren't hungry for God Himself. They don't yearn for fellowship with Him.

Oh, precious pray-ers, let's repent for being that way. Let's set our hearts to be like David was. Let's pray as he did in Psalm 27:
One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple...You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek…."
(vv. 4,8 AMP)
Just Draw Near to God
God wants us to value our fellowship with Him more than we value even the work we do for Him. That's why He sometimes interrupts me right in the middle of a great prayer project. I'll be consumed with doing the work of the Lord in prayer when suddenly He will put the brakes on and say, "Stop. Hush. Be quiet and worship Me. Give me honor and glory. Just draw near to Me."

In the King James version of the Bible, Matthew 6:33 says, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things will be added to you." Another translation puts it this way, "Seek ye first God and God alone and all these things will be added to you."

That is so very true. All things—even spiritual things—will be added to us if we will seek God first. If we'll seek Him and Him alone, He will let us fly with Him to the heights of heaven in prayer. He will take us farther into the realms of the spirit than we ever dreamed possible if we delight in Him!

A Heavenly Visitation
Speaking of soaring to new heights, I remember how the Lord allowed me to do that several years ago during a four-day prayer meeting in Ozark, Alabama.

On the first night I fell under the power of the Holy Ghost while I was praying. As I lay there, an angel came and touched me on the shoulder. There was such power in His touch I jumped and started to scream. But he put his fingers to his lips and said, "Sh-sh-sh." So I stayed quiet.

Together the angel and I began to go up. We went out of the building into the night sky. It was so beautiful. The stars were right there, seemingly so close. Then we began to shoot through the sky at great speed. I didn't know where we were going. But I was having so much fun I didn't care!

It would take too long to detail all that happened. But I can tell you this: before that visitation was finished, an angel of God had escorted me to places all over the earth. He had taken me to see groups of people who didn't know Jesus, people who are in bondage because they haven't heard the Gospel.

I saw frightening looking red-skinned people dressed in skins who were chewing on bones. (I wondered if they were cannibals.) I saw Eskimos with their beautiful children. I saw Italians who looked up toward heaven with warm, brown eyes. I visited people all over the world.

And the most amazing thing was that as I looked at them, God caused me to love them all. My heart went out to even those primitive people who looked so scary. God put such compassion for them inside me that I wanted to gather them to myself as if they were my own children.

God wants to do that for us now. He wants to give us His love for people so we can pray for them with power and with passion. And I know now that He can do it! Praise His Holy Name!

As the angel showed me these precious people trapped in the devil's darkness, he said to me, "Only prayer can change these things."

Oh how important prayer is in these days!

People Of Prayer
The angel also told me that in this final hour the greatest works will be done by those who are rocked in the bosom of the Father. Do you know who those people are? They are the people who pray. They are the people who have again and again drawn near to the heart of God. They are the people who have loved Him above all and have spent untold hours at His feet.

The people who are rocked in the bosom of the Father are the people who will have His heart for the nations. And in the days to come, God will send them to those nations. They will travel as missionaries on their knees. They will be translated to other lands to pray for some and to preach the Gospel to others. Yes, they will do the great works of God.
