There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life.
(Josh. 1:5)
The word “stand” here in Joshua 1:5 means “to stand in a stationary position in order to block you.” God was telling Joshua that no man would be able to stand in front of him to block him from taking the land God promised him and the children of Israel.

We must realize that just because a promise of God seems to be waning does not mean that God is withholding it from you.

You have an enemy, his name is Satan. His sole purpose is to destroy you. He is intensely jealous of you and hates you.

He will try to block, and hinder you from receiving what God has already given you. There will be people, situations, mountains, valleys, storms and thorns that Satan will use to stop you from taking possession of what God has promised.

God revealed to Joshua, that men would attempt to stand and block him from taking possession the Promised Land. But even though they would come against him, they would not prevail against him.

To many times I have seen God fearing Christians begin their walk of faith in receiving a promise of God,  but when the storms of life come cashing in, and when our adversary tries to stand in front of them to block their progress, they give up and let go.

We must never stop short of receiving and experiencing the promises of God that Christ Jesus purchased for us.

God explained to Joshua how to push pass these men that would try to block them from receiving their promised land. Look at Joshua 1:8;
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
In order to experience the FREEDOM of taking a promise of God, we must become committed to that promise. We must set our focus on the Word of God, and not the giant that is standing in front of us.

The first definition of prosperous here in Joshua 1:8 is to become mentally intelligent, to gain the wisdom of God in any situation.

The second definition of the word prosperous means to push forward and to break out. When we put our attention on what God is saying and act on it, instead of that giant, we are then able to push forward, and break through the enemies blockade.

The Word of God declares in Ephesians 6:13:
Wherefore take unto you the WHOLE armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done ALL to STAND.
Instead of allowing the enemy to take a stand, we are the ones to make a STAND.

The word stand here in Ephesians means to make firm, fix, to establish a thing, cause it to stand, to uphold or sustain the authority or force of anything.

The word "STAND" here does not mean to do nothing, and take a beating. Stand for the believer means to continue in the promise of God, making it fixed, solid and established.

When dealing with the enemy trying to block your progress, you and I are to take on the WHOLE armor of God, and having done everything we know to do, make our stand.

Become fixed, immovable. Establish your authority in possessing your promised land!

Don't run. Don't complain, Don't accuse. Don't quit. Don't give up...STAND!

Allow the power of God's Word, His promise, to go to work in your behalf.

Like David facing Goliath, run towards the enemy that is trying to block your progress.

Make your stand by running towards the enemy with all the power of God's word working in your behalf.

Stand firm; stand your ground! Stand on what God has spoken to you! Stand in that promise and continue standing until the manifestation of that promise!
