"Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily" (1 Cor. 13:4 AMP).

A person who is a "love" person is a person that is both generous and humble.

Let's look at generosity for a moment. A person who is generous is a person who willingly rejoices when his/her friends and colleagues are blessed in some way. It is obvious then that generosity is not competitive. It is not envious or jealous. It doesn't matter that they make more money than you.

It doesn't matter that the company honored them but they didn't honor you. It doesn't matter that right now they're getting all the accolades and you're not. None of that moves you. Why? You are generous, and you generously honor them as well.

When you think about it, you want your friends to be happy when your day comes. You don't want anybody pouting because you were blessed and they were not. The God kind of love, then, honors. So, this kind of love is competitive-less. Why? First Corinthians 12 says that when one is honored we're all honored.

That leads us to another ingredient of the love of God and that is humility. It doesn't have to be seen. This love is willing to do what is required behind the scenes, lift up other people, and never have credit for themselves. This is a person that walks in true humility.

Now you ask yourself the question as we walk though this list in the next few days. Where do you stand on this "love" list? On a scale of one to ten, one being 100 percent positive, and ten being 100 percent negative, grade yourself for each ingredient and you will know where to start praying and what to work on.

Be honest with yourself. It's okay. We are all striving for perfection. That means, we are not there yet. The purpose is to move closer and closer to Jesus as we possible can. As we endeavor to be like Him, we will have success in the relationships we have with other people.
