Spoiled Principalities

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

(Col. 2:15 KJV)

This verse is talking about the work Jesus did against the evil forces of Satan’s troops. By way of the cross, Jesus freed Himself from the power of the spiritual darkness that encompassed Him, and then He disarmed them, stripped them of their power to accuse us, and dislodged them from the high ranking positions they had taken over fallen man.

The Message Bible says: He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets.

After God had made Jesus free from the influence of the evil authorities and powers, He then put them openly to shame, by making a public spectacle of them, leading them as captives in His victory parade. Jesus glorified God by the cross and His triumph over those entities. We glory too because Jesus did it all for us.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

The evil powers of Satan are disarmed and humiliated by the finished work of Jesus on the cross. I rejoice and walk in His victory today.
