Confessing Our Faith

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised).”

(Heb. 10:23 NASB)

The word “profession” is written “confession” in many translations of the Bible. Confession means to acknowledge. We confess our sins; we acknowledge them and agree with God that we have sinned. It isn’t just the negatives we are to confess. We are to confess our faith in God without flinching or wavering, no matter what.

The Message Bible says: “Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word.”

How do we hold fast the confession of our faith? We must keep our mouth in agreement with God’s Word. We must simply say what He says about ourselves. Hold on to and boldly say what God’s Word reveals to you.

Faith is required on our part to do this because we don’t always see what God says in the Word about us as our reality. But as we hold fast to the confession of it, God always makes it our reality. God performs it because He is faithful to fulfill His promises.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I hold fast to the confession of my faith without wavering because God is faithful.
