A Scripture Hall of Fame?

by Dick Mills | The Spirit Filled Believer

“Forever, 0 Lord, Your word is settled in heaven” (Ps. 119:89 NKJ).

Have you ever thought of a Scripture Hall of Fame? In eternity the possibility exists that each verse of scripture has a pavilion to give all the redeemed a historical overview of the verse and its history.

Can you imagine a building marked Genesis 1:1? In it would be the entire history of that verse, including all the mementos of how it came to be written. All the songs based on it. All the poems, pictures, articles, and stories derived from it. Even case histories of personages helped by it.

I can visualize a replay room where we will be able to get a rerun of all the sermons preached throughout the ages on the subject of Genesis 1:1. After we have spent our time in the Genesis 1:1 Hall of Fame, we will then be able to move on to the next pavilion, Genesis 1:2.

“Your word is forever settled in heaven, 0 Lord.” The Hebrew word translated settled in this verse means “to be stationed.” “Your word is stationed permanently in heaven, OLord.”

One translation reads: “Your word stands firm in the heavens.” Another states: “Your word is firmly fixed in the heavens.” The Word of God will never become extinct, antiquated, obsolete, archaic, outdated, or no longer functional.

It will always remain fresh, new, lively, potent, illuminating, stimulating, challenging, and inspiring. God’s Word will last as long as heaven lasts – forever!
