“Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness.”
The word “righteousness” means equity of character, and justification. It means we stand in the presence of God without any sense of not belonging. Our righteousness came from God as a gift when we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord. We have the same right standing with God as Jesus does, because He gave us His in the new birth. The Message Bible says: Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued… truth, righteousness… The Roman soldier had a solid breastplate that covered his chest and vital organs. He could trust that, even if an enemy’s blow got through his defense, he was still well covered. This gave him an air of confidence, even when facing an enemy. His breastplate was his lifesaver. Believers have righteousness as their breastplate. Our knowledge of this breastplate of right standing with God will do the same for us.
Today’s Thought to Take With You:
I have the full armor of God. My breastplate of righteousness protects me everyday.
