There are so many things that will do us good only if we know how to access them. For example, you can have a key to an automobile. Probably everyone reading this knows how an automobile functions. However, if you took an automobile and put it in the middle of a remote tribe in a jungle that has been untouched by civilization, chances are the people there would lack the knowledge and experience to access the power within the car.
We are so familiar with automobiles, we don’t think about how much there is to know about them. We know the key unlocks the door. But that only gets you inside. Once you get inside, you already know where to put the key in the ignition. And you know if you turn the key a certain way, the engine starts. But that is only the beginning.
There are rules and regulations for driving a car. That car will do a number of different things for you if you know what to do. It will go backwards. It will go forward. It will turn to the left and the right. It will stop when you push the brake. But your ability to access the power that’s under the hood of that car is limited to your knowledge and application.
It’s the same way with the Word of God. There’s power in the blood of Jesus. Without the knowledge about the blood of Jesus we will never know what to do. However, even if we study and acquire the knowledge about the blood, it still will not profit us until we act on the knowledge.
Knowing what the key will do for an automobile is not enough. You must put action with your knowledge. You must physically get into the car and act on the knowledge. We must do the same thing with the blood. Knowledge without action is like faith without works. It’s dead. “Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead” (James 2:17).
In order to access the power of the blood, there are several things a believer needs to know and act upon. First of all, we must realize that everything the blood is supposed to do has already been done in the spirit realm. The only thing left for us to do is to have faith in what the blood has done and act on that faith.
