“And (add) to your brotherly kindness, love….”
Love is the divine nature of God. The Bible says that God is love. The Greek word for love used here is “agape.” It means a love feast of the kind of love that God gives. As Christians, we are partaking of God’s love through our relationship with Jesus. We are loved with His unconditional, never ending love. Then we learn to pass it on to others around us.
The Message Bible says: “So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with…generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others.”
Loving others with God’s love is the answer to every relational problem. Love makes us masters of every situation. Too often we try to love with our own natural love and it fails, we run out. But God’s love never fails. God’s love is the fulfillment of every law.
It is the answer to every struggle in our lives. But the key to walking in love toward others is to make sure you let God love you first. God said you are to love others even as Jesus has first loved you. So add the love of God to your life.
I add love to my faith. As I learn the love of God from Jesus, I’ll pass it on to others.
