Avoid and Hate Bribes

by Marcia Malzahn | Devotions for Working Women

Proverbs 15:27 (NLT)
Dishonest money brings grief to the whole family, but those who hate bribes will live.

Once in a while during your career you may encounter a person who will offer you special gifts (or bribes) in exchange for something else you may want (a promotion, more sales referrals, better deals, etc.). Be careful in accepting those gifts.

First of all, most companies have policies forbidding bribes and you can lose your job. You could also be prosecuted and sent to jail. The Bible says that taking gifts for something (quid pro quo) will bring grief to the whole family.

We have clearly witnessed how this behavior destroys families just from watching the news and hearing about the white collar crime that is going on.

Even when you own a company and you are the boss, remember you still answer to God. Avoid and hate bribes and you will live.

You will keep peace and joy in your household.
