Brought Near

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day, Devotions

“But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.”

(Eph. 2:13)

We were the ones who, at one time in our life, were far away from the blessings of God. Our sins had separated us from the love of God. But Jesus offered His own life and His own blood as a sacrifice for us, bringing us back into fellowship with God. And it really doesn’t matter how far off we may have gotten. What a lovely Savior He truly is.

The Message Bible says: “Now because of Christ—dying that death, shedding that blood—you who were once out of it altogether are in on everything.”

The blood of Christ has brought us near. Near to the heart of love that God has for us. Near to the caring, directing hand of the Father. Near to the promise of eternal life and all the benefits of believing. Near to the abundant provision of the Father. Now in Christ Jesus we, who once were so far away, have been brought near through the blood of Christ.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am close to God because the blood of Jesus has saved me. Today I walk with God and enjoy the closeness of His abiding presence.
