Cleansed From All Sin

by Tim Davidson | Devotions, Featured Devotions

“But if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.”

(1 John 1:7 NASB)

Have you ever wondered about the things you were doing that were sin before you found out that it was wrong to do? Are we condemned? No, this verse shows us that we are purged from all sin if we walk in the light that Jesus gives us. Before the light comes, the blood is applied and we are continually washed clean.

The Message Bible says: “But if we walk in the light, God himself being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.”

Being a Christian doesn’t involve memorizing a long list of things that we can’t do. It does involve walking with Jesus in such a way that when He puts His finger on something and we see that it isn’t like Him, then we must walk in the light of what He shows us. If we do, the blood covers all the other stuff.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I choose to walk in the light of what I know about Jesus. As I do that, His blood washes me from all sin.
