“How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them?” (Deut. 32:30).
You and I really do not need another sermon on the necessity and value of unity and teamwork. Common sense tells us that cooperation is vital to accomplishment. We know there is a great need for people to work together for the good of the cause. It is the actualization of what we already know about unity that is needed now.
One can stand against a thousand discouraging things, but two can stand against ten thousand. Having another person alongside to help increases one’s potential by nine thousand. That should be a great incentive for working harmoniously with others.
As I travel widely, I am constantly meeting Christians who are getting the exact same word from the Lord: cooperation, Christianity is not for soloists, prima donnas, lone rangers, heavyweights, or superstars.
The Body of Christ is one unit, but it is made up of many components. None of us is a law unto himself or herself. We must work together as a team to represent Christ to the uncommitted. Just as the world needs us, so we believers need each other.
Our Lord has promised to bless cooperation. Alone you or I can push back a thousand obstacles. Together we can push back ten thousand. The more we cooperate, the higher the percentage of results.
By taking this promise to heart, we can go from “fruitfulness” (John 15:2) to “much fruitfulness” (John 15:5). Let’s do it!
