Dead To The Law

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day, Devotions

Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

(Rom. 7:4 KJV)

We should be married to Jesus, who was raised from the dead for us, rather than to the keeping of the law or to rules and religious regulations. We are now in the body of Christ and are dead to the power of the Law.

The Message Bible says: So, my friends, this is something like what has taken place with you. When Christ died he took that entire rule-dominated way of life down with him and left it in the tomb, leaving you free to “marry” a resurrection life and bear “offspring” of faith for God.

Now we are free to belong to Christ, who has given us heaven-empowered life. We can now walk in that life and make daily decisions concerning that life, so that we can serve God and bring forth fruit unto Him.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

I am married to Jesus in new life from God. I am dead to the religious demands of the Law.
