Faith Speaks

by Charles Capps | Articles, Faith

Jesus said to the apostles, “If you had faith as a seed, you would say to the sycamine (Black Mulberry) tree….” Evidently, they were walking down a path, and the tree was right in the middle of the path. This tree was an obstacle in their way.

Jesus said, “Fellows, if you had faith as a seed, you could say to this inanimate object, this tree, ‘Be plucked up by the roots, be planted in the sea,’ and it (the tree) would obey you.”

Another paraphrase of His words would be, “It would obey your faith-filled words, if you had faith as a seed.”

Jesus tells two great faith secrets here: Faith is as a seed, or it works as a seed; and, you plant it by speaking it.

Someone may say, “You’re not going to catch me speaking to trees and mountains and talking to things.”

You probably won’t see those things removed either.

Tell It Where To Go

Jesus is not talking about uprooting trees anyway, no more than He is talking about blowing Mount Everest into the sea when He said, “…whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed…” (Mark 11:23).

He’s talking about problem areas in your life; about situations that you face and circumstances you don’t know how to handle.

Jesus tells you to say to that situation, “Be plucked up, be planted in the sea; depart, be gone.” Tell it what to do and where to go.

Dominion With Words

This is the way Adam was to have dominion in the beginning. God told Adam to have dominion over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, over everything that creeps on the earth.

Now that’s good news in itself, just knowing that you have dominion over creeps.

How was Adam going to subdue the elephant? He would have to do it with his faith. There was not much he could do about it physically.

Adam had to do it with his faith and the power of words. He had to operate in dominion by his faith. He had to operate the way God operated. He was in His likeness.

The Tongue Deceives the Heart

“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain” (James 1:26 KJV).

James said, “If any man seems to be religious, what he believes will be in vain if he doesn’t watch what he speaks.” There are many that seem to be religious, but they don’t bridle their tongues. They speak all sorts of things that destroy their faith and deceive their heart.

When they start out in their Christian life, they may have great faith. But if they believe and speak everything they hear on television, they will have faith in the devil to steal what they have.

They will have faith in depression, instead of prosperity. What they believed in the beginning will disappear because faith cometh by hearing.

Fear also comes the same way.

If you pray one thing and say another, your saying will nullify your praying.

Someone made the statement that those who say they can and those who say they can’t are both right regarding any situation.

We have to realize something: we have to go by God’s rules. God has some rules and regulations concerning His laws (the power of the tongue is one of these laws). And when we operate in spiritual law, we must operate with God’s rules.

Charles Capps is a retired farmer, land developer, and Bible teacher who has traveled extensively throughout the United States and several foreign countries sharing the truths of God's Word. He has taught Bible seminars for over 35 years, emphasizing the authority of the believer, faith and the power of words.

Charles and Peggy both have their roots in the rich farmland of Lonoke County, Arkansas. Having been raised by parents who were farmers, Charles began farming cotton, soybeans, and rice immediately after graduating from high school and marrying in 1951.

Peggy, being 3 1/2 months older than Charles had to sign as the adult on his behalf when he wanted to begin flying lessons at the age of 17. They joined an organization known as the Flying Farmers and gained experience going to "fly-ins" and national meetings across the United States. Neither knew that this skill of flying would be such an asset later when Charles began teaching personal evangelism in the 1960's. He spoke on the subject of soulwinning in churches not only in the US, but flew his twin engine Piper Comanche to the Bahamas to teach students of Youth With a Mission how to share Christ with others.

After reading a book by Kenneth E. Hagin entitled, "Authority of the Believer", Charles and Peggy's life took on a new dimension of travel and ministry as Charles became known for his teaching gift and insight on the subjects of faith and confession. Invitations to minister to the Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) began to pour in, eventually leading to the publication of his teachings in book form. "The Tongue a Creative Force" and "God's Creative Power(r) Will Work for You" became bestsellers after Buddy Harrison, Kenneth Hagin's son in law, launched his publishing company with these two classics. These two books have sold millions (the God's Creative Power(r) series has sold over 5 million copies) and are still much in demand today.

We celebrated Charles' promotion to heaven at 5:15 pm Sunday, February 23, 2014. He informed the family and close friends on Friday that he would be going home to heaven in 3 days. After having some final words with family and friends on Saturday, he went to bed, went to sleep and never awoke. (He kept saying, "I want to go in my sleep.") His wife and daughters had the privilege of being with him as he finally got that glorified body he always talked about. Charles Capps was a man of integrity, a man of his word and he got what he said. He called those things that be not as though they were.

Charles Capps broadcast called, "Concepts of Faith", continues a daily national radio broadcast and a weekly television broadcast aired over several networks, satellite, and the internet. Click on the Radio or TV link to find the broadcast in your area.

Peggy continues to reside in Arkansas. Both Charles' and Peggy's daughters, Annette and Beverly are involved in the ministry.
