“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name” (Ps. 91:14 KJV).
One of the benefits of dwelling in the secret place of the most High God is that God will provide for you deliverance in whatever way you need it. The person abiding in the shadow of the almighty is someone who has set his or her love on God. The word deliver in Psalm 91:14 means to slip out, to escape, or to lift up and carry.
When you are one who loves God with everything you have, then God will lift you up and carry you right out of danger if He has to. He will cause you to slip right by and escape the plots of the devil.
In Psalm 37:39-40 we see the same word deliver as found in Psalm 91:14: “But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.”
The word deliver bears the idea of lifting up and carrying. The Lord is going to lift you up and He is going to carry you out of trouble. You will escape because you will have a direct intervention of God.
It is one thing for God to lead you. But it is another thing when God directly intervenes. When the actual power of God just walks in and lifts you above the trouble because there is so much power manifested for you.
A couple of years ago a friend of mine that pastors a church in Miami told me about a situation in which one of his members encountered. One particular morning this gentleman was led to plead the blood of Jesus in his prayer time. Then the Lord had him to arrive to work early and plead the blood over the office. He did that.
As time went by, it was time to begin work. Then in the middle of the day some masked men with automatic weapons broke into the office, and came up to this man.
They made everybody lay on the floor but they came up to this man and they pulled the trigger to kill him, and the gun wouldn’t fire. Then the man tried to fire again and the gun wouldn’t fire. The other guy with him stepped up with his gun and he pulled the trigger, but the gun wouldn’t fire.
The power of God, intervened directly. So they ran out of there. Unfortunately, others in the office were shot, but thank God they didn’t die. However, none of the other believers in the office were harmed.
God’s power lifted him above the power of the bullets, lifted him above the power of the hate of the devil. If you need to be snatched out of the situation, then God will deliver you that way.
If you need direct intervention from God, then He will do that too. Whatever you need to be delivered from danger, God will supply it for you, when you set your love upon Him.
