Hire Your Employees Wisely

Proverbs 26:10 (NLT)

An employer who hires a fool or a bystander is like an archer who shoots recklessly.

The success of a company depends entirely on the employees they hire. Therefore, the hiring process should not be taken lightly. It is crucial that the appropriate homework be done before and after interviewing a potential candidate.

If a company hires the wrong people, it can cost the company money in training, major mistakes may be made, and if employees are ill-intentioned, they could bring the company down.

There are two major areas you need to look at when hiring potential employees. The first one is the person’s character. Is the candidate a person of integrity, honest, truthful, and with no personal hidden agenda? How can you know if the candidate has all of these important character traits in one interview? You don’t.

But you can ask God to help you ask key questions that will reveal a person’s character. As long as you ask everybody the same questions, and they are within legal guidelines, you should be OK in not discriminating against any candidate.

The second major area is the skills and abilities of the candidate. Don’t make the mistake of hiring someone for a position just because they are nice. On the other hand, don’t look only at their credentials, but also their personality.

If they don’t fit the position and you hire them, you are setting them up for failure and you will be frustrated. Therefore, do your homework and ask God to send you the right person to fill every position you need in your area.
