In Word or Deed

by Tim Davidson | A Verse A Day

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

(Col. 3:17 NASB)

When I became a Christian I was filled with negatives from my past. I complained and murmured if things weren’t going my way. God spoke to my heart saying, “Whatever you do in word or deed be positive about it.” Months later I read this verse and realized that everything about Jesus Christ is positive. To follow Him means I will also become positive in my approach to living.

The Message Bible says: Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.

What would Jesus do? That should be the guiding influence in our daily living. Whatever we do, both the natural things and the spiritual things, we do in the name of Jesus our Lord giving thanks and praise to God the Father because of Him.

Today’s Thought to Take With You:

Whatever I do today in word or deed I will be positive about it. I will do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus with thanksgiving.
