When evening came, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill.
(Matt. 8:16 NASB)

Jesus is in the healing business. This verse states that Jesus cured people who were tormented by evil influences and He restored to health people that were sick physically. He cast out these spirits with a word. Notice He did this with words.

The Message Bible says: That evening a lot of demon-afflicted people were brought to him. He relieved the inwardly tormented. He cured the bodily ill.

With a word He expelled the demons and He cured all the sick. What kind of word was it? The psalmist tells us that God sent forth His Word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions (Ps. 107:20). It seems that the containers, or buckets, that God has chosen to transfer things from Heaven to Earth are His words. God speaks and those words carry His power, healing and deliverance to everyone who will receive them. The Gospel is Good News.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
Jesus heals through words. I can be healed today by receiving His Word.
