"And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick."
(Matt. 14:14)

Religious folks say that Jesus healed the sick when He was here on earth to prove that He was the Son of God. Then because He has proven that already, He doesn't heal the sick any more.

But this verse says Jesus healed the sick because He had compassion on them, not to prove Himself. So it stands to reason that Jesus is still healing the sick today. No one will accuse Him of not having compassion anymore.

The Message Bible says: "When he saw them coming, he was overcome with pity and healed their sick."

We are to do the works of Jesus. One of those works He did was to have compassion for people. Compassion isn't just feeling sorry for them. Jesus didn't just feel sorry for the people. Compassion starts with the knowledge that you can do something to help them and finishes with you doing what helps them.

Jesus has compassion on the sick. He knows He can help them with the power of God, and then He heals them. We are to do the works of Jesus. He will place His heart of compassion in you now.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
Jesus was moved with compassion toward needy people. I will allow His heart in me.
