My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
(Ps. 45:1 KJV)
In this passage of scripture, King David is experiencing a revelation from God through the Holy Spirit. It's bubbling and boiling on the inside of him and he really has to tell someone. Therefore, his tongue is compared to the pen which is ready to write or compose the revelation he received releasing to generations a "good matter," the prophecy of Jesus Christ, the Messiah.

The Bible tells us that from the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt. 12:34). David is so full of this good matter, he declares Jesus is fair, righteous, full of grace, and so on (found in the subsequent verses of Psalm 45).

The Lord is good and when you fill your heart with his goodness, your mouth will speak of treasures from the past, for the present, and for the future. You will be writing and composing the good the Lord has for you and your generations to come.

The Lord is a never changing "good matter." Receive the goodness of our Lord and your tongue will also be the pen of a ready writer.
