If you've read my testimony, you know that I believe God is in the healing business today. In fact, if He wasn't, I wouldn't be here now, nor would I be in the ministry, either.

While it's easy to focus on what a doctor might say about your situation, or even what the facts indicate, what is more important is to find out what God has to say about it.

So many people are willing to accept the facts, and deal with them the best they can. Cancer victims may go through chemo or radiation or surgery. I've seen a great many people's bodies destroyed, more from the treatments than what the cancer did. And when I ask them why they went through those treatments, they said they didn't have any other option.

You Always Have Options
I beg to differ. I was diagnosed with five melanomas and liver cancer, given a month to live, and that week I considered my options.

Actually, the doctors didn't give me any at all, but to go home and get my affairs in order. So I did. I got my Bible out to see if I had any other choices.

Turns out I did.

First, as I looked at my life, really looked at it for the first time, I realized the path I was on was taking me to hell. And the path was short, because I was dying.

So the first order of business was, I asked God to forgive all my sins and for Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. At that point I knew nothing about divine healing. Nothing at all.

Oh, I'd heard of it, but that's about all. I had never been taught on the subject.

The Lord showed me Psalm 103:2-3,

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases.

It was at that point I asked the Lord, "Do you mean I don't have to die of this cancer?"

He said, "I have healed you."

"When?" I asked.

"2000 years ago...Jesus took stripes for your healing. He took your sickness and diseases upon Himself."

"Hmmmm, Lord, You could have fooled me!"

Truth Always Overrides Facts
You see, like most, I was looking at the facts. I had cancer. But the truth is, I was healed by the stripes of Jesus. It was then the Lord took me to Genesis 1:1-3. Good place to start...from the beginning.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light" and there was light.
(Gen. 1:1-3)

The Hebrew translation says, "Light be, and light was."

Here, God gave me my first "faith lesson." Notice it says, darkness was upon the face of the deep. Now, the fact was, it was dark! And God could have agreed with the fact, because it was dark.

God could have said, Boy, it's dark out there! But God said, "LIGHT BE!"

Was there any light? No, not until He said it. Did that mean God was lying because it was dark and there was no light, and He was saying "light be"? No, not at all, because as soon as God said "Light be," there was light.

The words of God are truth, and guess what? The truth of God's Word just changed the facts! God didn't waste any time showing us how His words get results.

God's Word turned on the light in my life as well. I saw right then and there that as long as I spoke in agreement with the Word of God, He would see to it that His word accomplished exactly what He said it would do.

Where is proof of that? Look at Isaiah 55:11,

So shall My word be that goeth forth out of My mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper (in the thing) whereto I sent it.

A word is established in the mouth of two or three witnesses; here's another, Jeremiah 1:12, "Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen; for I will hasten my word to perform it."

And of course, my favorite verse, where Jesus said in Mark 11:23-24,

For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart that those things which he saith shall come to pass, he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

So, then, we must find out what God has to say about healing us. Many are stuck on the false teaching that God puts sickness on us to bring us into obedience.

Let's settle something right now. Jesus said He was the Son of God. Jesus went about healing sick people, it says in Acts 10:38,

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power; who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed fo the devil; for God was with Him.

Healing Is The Father's Will
So, if it is God's will for us to be sick, then Jesus would have been in direct disobedience to His Father by healing people. Jesus said He did nothing without His Father's will, and in another place He said, "I and My Father are One." So there we have precedent that it is God's will to heal the sick.

Of course, people will say to me, "Then why aren't all people healed? Hmmmm?" My response is this; "You'd agree that it's God's will that everyone be saved, right? Because it is written that God is not willing that any should perish, but that all come to repentance. So why isn't everyone saved?

"Want to know why? God gives us a choice! Jesus will save you if you choose Him as your Lord and Savior, but He won't make you be saved against your will."

And He will heal you and make you whole by the same sacrifice He already made for you, the price has already been paid for you, but He won't heal you against your will. He will fill you with the Holy Spirit if you ask Him, but He won't make you take it. It's a choice.

God will never take your freedom of choice away. If you want to go to hell and stay sick, although it isn't His will for you to, He will let you. He loves you so much, He will never violate your freedom of choice.

So what's your choice today? Jesus? I surely hope so. I made my choice, but I can't make yours. Only you can do it. There's a lot hanging on the choice you make, not just in this life, but for all eternity. Be sure you make the right one!

You can know you can live in health all the days of your life. You can know you will live forever with Jesus. You can know He will never leave you or forsake you. I know. Do you?

You can pray this prayer, "Lord Jesus, I ask You to forgive my sins, and be my Lord and Savior. I thank You for healing my body. I ask You to fill me with Your Holy Spirit right now, and by faith I receive the truth of Your word and I believe with my heart and confess You with my mouth. Thank You for saving me. Amen."
