"And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them" (Luke 5:17).

Now, most of us are familiar with this story. Here you've got a situation whereby Jesus is in the house teaching the Word of God. The house is jam-packed with all of the dignitaries of the time and all the religious leaders. The place is so packed that a certain group of people that are coming to get their friend healed can't get in the house.

Now they could have quit right there. Not these guys. They said, "There has got to be a way to get in that house." And somebody comes up with the idea, "Let's hoist him up on the roof. Then let's break up the roof and lower him right down there in front of Jesus." That's a bold move.

All the time that they're up on the roof there's noise. Down in the house they hear this clack, clack, boom. Dust starts falling, and they wonder what's going on. Finally the guys punch a hole through the roof. The crowd beneath sees daylight as they look up at the roof breakers continuing their task. Then one of the guys sticks his head in there and says, "Yeah, this is the right spot." They let the man down right in front of Jesus.

There are two things to take note of in order for this man to walk off healed. They have their faith and they have the power of God present. Now, the roof was the only thing standing between that man's faith and the manifestation of healing power. So what did they do? They got rid of it.

Now, you have faith just like they had. You believe that Jesus is the healer. You make some steps in that direction, but there's something between the manifestation of that power for you and your faith. You have a roof of some kind in your way. So we have to get rid of that thing.

Usually that thing that is standing in the way of the manifestation of God's power and your faith is lack of knowledge. So find Scriptures that promise healing for you. Then tear off that roof by standing on those Scriptures. Then connect your faith to God's healing power. And say about yourself that you are healed. In other words, get in the roof-breaking business so that you can make your connection.
