In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” So, what is on your mind? Is it the Word of God and things that are pleasing to Him? Or, is it something outside of Him?
In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.”

The soul is made up of three components: 1) Mind, 2) Will, 3) Emotions. Since the mind is part of the soul, why did Jesus say to love the Lord with our soul and our mind? It is because our mind controls the other parts of our soul—our will and emotions. Whatever dominates your mind controls what you feel and what you do.

So, what is on your mind? Is it the Word of God and things that are pleasing to Him? Or, is it something outside of Him?

As you live each day, you probably have a lot on your mind: You have your job or your education to concentrate on, you have activities with your family, school, and friends to think about.

Then you probably have some personal interests like music, sports, art, reading, internet, fashion, or something else that you like to contemplate. All of those things can be fine, but only if they are kept in the right priority. Maybe you really like music and that is what you want to think about all the time. There is just one question: Do you love Jesus more than the music? Is Jesus more on your mind than music or anything else? If He is not, then something else will be controlling what you feel and what you do, instead of the Spirit of God.

The Lord said that He has given us richly all things to enjoy (I Timothy 6.17b). We should enjoy the good things God gives to us—yet, we should never let anything or anyone become a bigger priority to us than Him.

“Love the Lord with all your…mind” is a commandment. In order for you and me to really love God with all our mind, we must keep Him first in our thoughts and in everything we do. As long as He is on our mind more than anything else, what we feel and what we do will be directed by His Spirit.

The next time you hear the question “What’s on your mind?”… …Let your reply be: JESUS is what’s on my mind!
