Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”

Some accuse grace preachers of telling the body of Christ that they can sin and do anything they want because they are under grace. But that is not the message of grace.

Someone told me that I sounded like a grace preacher and I said, “thank you for recognizing that I am a grace preacher. But I do not only preach grace, but I recognize that all things I have through Christ Jesus is by God’s grace.”

We are saved by grace; we are delivered by grace; we are healed by grace and we are protected by grace. But the gift of God’s grace is received by faith. It is never attained byour own efforts, but grace is the gift of God that is freely given to us all.

Let’s take another look at this foundational verse for all Christian beliefs. Ephesians 2:8 says, “For by grace (the Greek word, charis, meaning, graciousness, gift, unmerited, undeserved, unearned favor) you have been saved (the Greek word sozo meaning, to save (as from hell), that is, deliver, protect (literally or figuratively):to heal, preserve (as in long life), to save (self), do well (as in your well-being; or prosperity), be whole or make whole. This salvation comes through faith (meaning, your persuasion, which is based on your acceptance of the Truth).”

Many believers think that salvation is only about missing hell and making it to heaven some day. But this is much more than that, and we just saw a description of what we have in our salvation-package.

Someone wrote me and told me how they had a chronic illness and was standing in faith for their healing. I shared briefly with that person that I too had dealt with an injury (illness) for several years. I hurt my back on a construction job and ended up being bedfast for about 3 years. I walked bent over during that period of time, and after surgery, my legs swelled up with massive blood clots and I suffered massive nerve damage in both legs. I was on a great deal of pain meds and went through years of extended physical therapy.

Today I am on a minimal amount of medication, needing nothing for pain. I walk upright, am not in a wheel chair, nor bedfast. Instead, I am spending my time in ministry doing God’s work. I decided that God’s Word was true; my body would cooperate or not, but I was going to continue in the ministry God called me to almost 40 years ago. I decided that either my body would get in line, or God’s Word was not true, and I had already decided that God’s Word was the absolute truth. It has taken a while, but my body and the devil have finally realized that I will not change my confession of faith, even if I am at home, alone on my bed and in any kind of pain. I know that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus and that’s that!

There is a story in Luke 13 of a similar infirmity.
And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.” (Luke 13:11-13)
I do not minimize demonic strongholds anywhere in the earth. But I do know that it was “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, so that we could have authority over the works of the devil.

Isn’t it amazing how Jesus has the last word in our situation, even when the doctors can’t help, or if self-help treatments don’t work? We eventually find ourselves in the place where we should have always been, and that’s trusting in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This woman heard Jesus call to her and He said, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”  That is the message of grace. I can’t do it, but God can, through the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

The greatest arena of attack will be in your mind. The enemy tries to convince you that you cannot recover and have the abundant life. And your option is to choose to believe satan, instead of the truth found in God’s Word. However, when you “have prayed, believed and confessed” the Word of God, then continue standing on God’s Word, rather than believing the lies of the enemy.

Acts 10:38 says, “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”  Affliction is not from God; it only comes from the thief (satan) who “does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10).

Today, I declare to you that, healing was settled 2,000 years ago. If your life today seems to be at a standstill, take this opportunity to get in the Word, and “receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness” of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by grace you are saved; and it is also by grace you are healed. …Think about it!
