Money can make many things happen for you, but there are a few things that it cannot do for you. Learning to distinguish the difference may be one of the most important lessons you could ever learn.

Here are three things money can do for you:
  1. It can multiply. When you learn how to give and receive, buy and sell, invest and grow—money will multiply (Luke 6:38).
  2. It can be an instrument of love. When you use it to help the poor, the needy, or the lost, it becomes God's love in motion.
  3. It can be a testimony. As God has blessed and provided for you, give Him the glory and others will see God's goodness.
Here are three things money can't do for you:
  1. It can't soothe your conscience. Giving it away will never bring the forgiveness of sin or relief of guilt. Only Christ can do that.
  2. It can't replace your work for God. Every Christian is called to actively serve in God's kingdom in some way. Just giving in the offering isn't enough.
  3. It can't go to heaven with you. Don't hoard it. Make the best possible use of it while you're here!
