I recently made a speculative stock investment that went sour. I lost everything I put into it. Why did God allow me to make such a mistake? Why didn't He warn me?

There could be numerous reasons, but let me share the number one reason. We need to always pray and ask God for advice. If you don't ask God for His opinion, He won't give it to you.

This is how Israel made a major mistake when conquering the land of Canaan. They took the word of the Gibeonites, who deceived them, without praying and asking God for advice. Had they asked God, He would have told them of the deception (Josh. 9:1-18). God knows the future, and He can give us great advice.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge (ask) Him, and He shall direct your paths.
(Prov. 3:5-6)
We must come to the place in our Christian walk where we trust that God wants the best for us and sincerely ask His advice. Then we need to be directed by the inward peace that He gives us. It's also important to note that we can ask God for advice, but really not want to hear Him say "No."

If we pray in that way, we will never open ourselves up to hear God clearly. Our hearts must really want to know God's opinion on the subject. I believe this could save us lots of money in the investment arena, as well as protect us from heartache in every other area of life.
