She continued, "Maybe people want to drink and maybe they want to receive, but maybe they just don't know how."
I thought this could be true. People generally want to receive a touch from God, but could it be that people may not know how to receive from God?
Sometimes people can have a hard time receiving. Has anyone ever come up to you and wanted to bless you with something and your response was "Oh, you don't have to do that. Really, it's OK, you really don't have to do that."
People ask God to bless them all the time. But when someone comes along with a gift or wants to do something for them, they try really hard not to accept the blessing.
Learning To Be A Receiver
Learning to be a receiver is important when it comes to getting what we desire from God. First, let's go over some hindrances to receiving, then we will go over how to receive from God. What could be some obstacles that people have when it comes to receiving from the anointing? Here are a few:
1. I do not feel that I'm worthy
It is true, we are not worthy to receive from God. But The Word says that because Jesus took our sins and died on the cross for us, you and I become worthy to receive from God. It is God's grace that provides our worthiness (see Ephesians 2:8-9).
2. Man-made doctrine and religion
Religion and man-made doctrine have stopped many people from receiving from the anointing. Some people believe that God is no longer doing miracles today. They believe that miracles ceased when the last apostle died. Some people are afraid of the supernatural. Any indication of a supernatural event is attributed to the devil.
3. Familiarity, Offense and Unbelief
These three things cause many people to fail to receive from the anointing. As we look in The Word, we can see this.
And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples followed him. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing [him] were astonished, saying, From whence hath this [man] these things?We can see in this scripture that familiarity, offense and unbelief stopped the power of God even in the ministry of Jesus.
and what wisdom [is] this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us?
And they were offended at Him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed [them].
And He marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching."

Receiving From The Anointing
Now that we understand some of the road blocks to receiving from the anointing, we can begin to learn the principles of receiving the anointing. We have to learn to yield to the things of God. This is not a formula, but rather an insight.
The Word says, "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God" (Rom. 6:13).
But first you have to understand what yielding means.
The word "yield" in Webster's Dictionary means "to allow; to concede; to surrender; to submit, to comply with; to give; to yield due praise; to permit; to grant; not to oppose; to give place; or to give up."
A better word to use when it comes to yielding to the Spirit of God is surrender, which means "to yield to the power of another; to give up; to resign in favor of another; to yield to any influence, passion or power." One of the Hebrew meanings for yield is "being overcome."
Now that we understand what it means to yield ourselves, we must learn to surrender to the things of the Spirit. It is a process of putting God's will before our own will. In this manner, we can become capable receivers of God's love and power!
