I believe the gift of tongues has been done away with and is not for today. What Scripture can you use to disprove this belief?

Acts 2:38-39 (KJV) is a very convincing Scripture.
Then Peter said unto them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
(Acts 2:38-39 KJV)
This section of Scripture clearly indicates that the gift of the Holy Spirit was for every generation. This leads us to discover what the gift of the Holy Spirit actually is. The Bible explains this in Acts 10:44-47:
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.

Then answered Peter, "Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?"
(Acts 10:44-47 KJV)
According to the above text, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit is synonymous with the Holy Ghost falling on a person, or receiving the Holy Ghost.

We know that someone has received the gift of the Holy Spirit in the same manner that these people knew. "For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God." This verse and many other Scriptures cause me to believe that the gift of tongues is as much for us as it was the early church.
