"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.'" (Luke 4:18-19)

I have some good news. So good, you'll want to jump up and shout. You'll be inspired to jump out of bed in the morning, grin real big and holler, "Look out, Satan! I'm up again, and I'm going to whip you all day long!"

The good news is: you have God's power moving through every part of you...in other words, you are anointed!

I can almost hear someone thinking, Well, Ken, I would never go so far as to assume I was anointed.

You mean you aren't a Christian?

"Why certainly I'm a Christian!" Well, if you're a Christian, then you're anointed because the very word Christian comes from the Greek word Christ which means "the Anointed One." Translate the word Christian and you'll find out it means to be anointed like Jesus!

In fact, to say you're anything less than anointed is to reject what Jesus bought for you with His precious blood. Jesus didn't pay the price for sin just so you could get eternal fire insurance. He did it so you could be cleansed, and be filled with His own anointing (1 John 2:27). Jesus laid down His life so that He could equip you to do the same things He did, and more! (John 14:12)

The very thought of doing the same things Jesus did staggers the minds of most Christians. When we think about being witnesses for "Christ," we usually think about passing out tracts. As wonderful as that is, there is more for us to do.

You're to preach the good news to the poor, proclaim freedom to the prisoners, recovery of sight to the blind, release the oppressed and proclaim that it's the time of God's favor. Why? Because He said so, and He has anointed you to do it!

Yes, you can do it! You're ANOINTED!
