The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.
(Luke 4:18 KJV)

Jesus ministered to people by the anointing of the Spirit that was upon Him. His anointing is an example for us to follow when it comes to serving people. Who did Jesus have in mind when He preached to the poor? The poor. Who was He thinking about when He preached deliverance? The captives.

The Message Bible says: God's Spirit is on me; he's chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free.

The Holy Spirit is now in us. Jesus Christ has blessed us with His Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit of the Lord who stays with us and teaches us what we need to know to serve others. In every situation He will give to us inward impressions. We need to lay hold of them and follow them and the ministry of Jesus will continue today.

Today's Thought to Take With You:
The anointing of the Holy Spirit is teaching me and guiding me and I trust Him.
