The Word of God is full of people who walked in integrity and good character and because of it God blessed and promoted them. Men such as Daniel and Joseph and Jesus. Other people in the Word did not keep their integrity and character and suffered the consequences.

But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.
(Ps. 26:11 )

What is Integrity?
The Webster Dictionary gives us this definition: integrity is moral soundness or purity, uprightness, honesty. Integrity comprehends the whole moral character. So as a person's integrity is, so is their character.

What is character? Webster's gives us this definition: moral excellence and firmness.

As Christians we should have the highest integrity and character. But today many fall short of showing forth these two qualities in their life. Has anybody ever said to you that they would do something for you and then they don't keep their word? How many times have you said to someone, "I'll call you," or "We have to get together sometime." Then they never call you or never do what they said they would do.

How many times have you called someone and left messages for him or her to return your call—but he or she never returns your call. Could it be that they never got the message or could it be an integrity and character defect?

Other people in the Word did not keep their integrity and character and suffered the consequences. Men such as King Saul, Samson and Judas Iscariot.

The Apostle James made it plain when he said:

And since you know that he cares, let your language show it. Don't add words like "I swear to God" to your own words. Don't show your impatience by concocting oaths to hurry up God. Just say yes or no. Just say what is true. That way, your language can't be used against you.
(James 5:12 MSG)

In other words, if you tell someone that you will do something and you do not do it, it will go against your integrity and character. James continues to say, "Just say yes or no." In other words, just tell the truth. If you are going to do something, have integrity and character and do it.

Let's be the Christians God wants us to be. We should have godly integrity and character; without it, we are just like the world. God wants us to be different.
