We must learn to appreciate who we are. Only then can we truly feel good about ourselves.

We can learn a lot from what happened to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Although they were perfectly created in God's image, they weren't satisfied. They wanted to improve what God had already perfected.

The Word of God says that man (male and female) was created in God's image and likeness, and that we were given dominion and control over His creation (Gen. 1:26-28). The word image means "physical likeness or representation."

God created us to be His reflection and representation on earth. John 4:24 says, "God is a Spirit...." Therefore, since God is a Spirit, and we're created in His image, we must be of spiritual origin and possess His power.

We're not some second-class creation. We're of the God-class. As women of God, we must make a decision: Look and live like the world or conform to God's ideal image of us.

Adam and Eve, however, were already like God. In fact, they were gods and were given everything they could ever want (Ps. 82:6; 115:16). They didn't need to do anything else to be like the Most High God.

Look Good for You
What about you? Are you attempting to become what you already are? Perhaps you're married and feel as if you've lost your identity. Like many women, perhaps image is everything to you.

Don't get me wrong. I don't have a problem with dressing nicely and having fine things. In fact, God wants us to look, wear, drive, and live in the best. That's why we must do our best to reflect the image He wants us to reflect.

Ask yourself, Am I trying to look good so that others will think well of me? Or am I reflecting an image that pleases and represents God?

Some women who are overweight believe that God loves them just the way they are. That's true. But being overweight is not who you really are. He created you to live in divine health. Being overweight is a health risk. It is not God's will that you remain the same in this area.

God created you to look and feel healthy at all times. Therefore, control your weight and keep your hair, nails and skin beautiful. Doing the practical things in life makes all the difference in the world. After giving birth to three daughters, I made a conscious decision to always take care of myself.

That's why I eat properly and exercise regularly. When I look in the mirror now, I love what I see. It takes hard work and determination to get there. But it can be done.

More than that, it takes loving myself enough to change the way that I see myself so that I can change the way that I live. The Bible says that you are what you think about yourself (Prov. 23:7). I choose to think positively about who I am because I believe everything God says about me in His Word.

You should never be ashamed of the woman you see in the mirror. You're beautiful in God's eyes because He created you in His image. Therefore, love yourself!

Start by reading and studying God's Word regularly. Second Corinthians 3:18 in The Amplified Bible says, "...all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit."

Our life should be a reflection of God's goodness. From your appearance to your character, you represent God. That's why your self-perception and attitude toward life must be in line with His Word.

Therefore, start making the following Word-based confessions daily and change the way you think and speak so that you can change the way you live.
In the name of Jesus, I declare that I am carefully and wonderfully made in God's image. My physical appearance is a reflection of His glory. I am virtuous, holy, presentable and acceptable in God's sight. I identify with the beautiful image of His Word and will increase from one level of glory to the next. I am blessed, prosperous and in good health. And I believe I receive the manifestation of this confession now!
The Word of God is a mirror. It reflects His image, character and beauty. The more you look into God's Word - reading and studying it daily - the more you will conform to His image.

Someone once said, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." So the next time you look into the mirror say, "I'm absolutely beautiful in God's eyes and He loves me unconditionally!"
