It is unfortunate, but there are members of the Body of Christ who have allowed themselves to stumble into the habit of what I call the "sin of comparison." It is a diabolical, destructive, and very damaging habit that has crept in from the world's system. Many are not happy with themselves; therefore, they are tempted, and some have resorted to comparison.

Some people push who they are onto other people with great force. If we are not secure in who we are, or what we are made of, we will think we are supposed to be something that God did not form us to be.

Now, if changes are necessary for us to become everything that He has designed for us to be, than by all means make the changes. Only you, with the Holy Spirit's help, can do that.

I can remember being asked to be a guest speaker at a conference. After a time of prayer, the Holy Spirit did not give me a green light to be a part of this specific conference. After I declined I was asked again by those who were hosting the meeting.

I declined the second time, but I could tell that my answer was not what they wanted to hear. It appeared as though they were offended. How could I dare decline this invitation? Easy, follow the leading of Holy Spirit. He knows better than I know where I am supposed to be at any given time.

The Holy Spirit knows my future better than I can remember my past. I had to be bold enough to say NO! and not buckle under the pressure of the arm of flesh. Many are the men or women who missed God's way because they based their decision on an outward circumstance, rather than an "Inward Witness" (2 Chron. 32:6-8; Rom. 8:15-17).

God's Word gives us information as to how we are to view ourselves. Our outlook should be the same as His outlook. The psalmist said it so well:
For you fashioned my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother's womb. I thank you because I am awesomely made, wonderfully; your works are wonders—I know this very well. My bones were not hidden from you when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes could see me as an embryo, but in your book all my days were already written; my days had been shaped before any of them existed. God how I prize your thoughts! How many of them there are! If I count them, there are more than grains of sand; if I finish the count, I am still with you.
(Ps. 139:13-18)
Please tell me, how can you possibly have a negative attitude about yourself after reading those verses? How could you dare compare yourself with someone else after getting a breathtaking portrayal of God's opinion of you?

To regard yourself in any other light is a transgression. The Bible says that the way of the transgressor is hard. You would have to go contrary to the Word of God to think and act differently than what He has said about you. In doing so, you make it harder on yourself.

Proverbs 13:15 says, "Good understanding giveth favor: but the way of transgressors is hard."

It's time to make it easy on yourself. All we have to do is agree with God's Word and say what He says about us and we make it easy on ourselves. Contrary to what some folks believe, God is not mad at you.

He's not sitting on His throne in Heaven trying to figure out a way to make life on earth miserable for you. No, it's you who is your worst enemy. It's you who is public enemy number one. Jesus came so that things on this earth would be easier for you and me.

If we are really yoked together with Him, life can't possibly be as difficult as some folks want you to think it is.

In fact, if we see ourselves as God does, life is good!
