The Bible says in Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not evil, to give you an expected end."

This scripture lets us know that God has put forethought into His plan for each individual life. The first and foremost plan that He has for every individual is that we repent of our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and become born-again.

I truly believe that no human being is capable of finding their true purpose in life until they come into a relationship with God the Father; however, we must realize that when we get born-again, that is not the end of our quest for purpose, it is the beginning.

Many times when a person gets born-again and they begin to live for the Lord, they soon discover that God wants an entirely different direction for their life than the one they were headed in before He touched them.

Once we discover the direction and the call of God for our lives there are certain things that we must do to prepare for what God desires to do in us and through us, and I stress the word through. God's first objective is to do a work in us and then His second objective is to work through us to touch others for Him.

No matter what you are called to do in this life, if God is in it. He will use you to impact other people's lives for Him. You don't have to be called to one of the five-fold ministry offices to be used by God. He wants to use all of His children to represent Him and make a difference in our own sphere of influence.

It All Begins In A Seed Form
When I use the term "cultivating your destiny," I am referring to the things that we must do to dig up and prepare the soil of our hearts to hold the precious seed of the Word of God concerning our future. Everything God does begins in seed form and our individual destiny is no different.

Each individual destiny begins in seed form as a word spoken to us by God. Once we hear and receive that word it falls into our hearts in seed form and begins to grow. This is what God did to Abram when He spoke to him and said you are going to be the father of many nations. It did not all manifest the next day.

As a matter of fact, it wasn't until many years later that Abram, now Abraham, saw the manifestation of the seed that God had planted in his heart so many years earlier.

From the time of conception to the time of manifestation is where we must continue to cultivate our hearts and keep the weeds of the world and the devil out of our hearts and away from the precious seed that God has planted that contains the power to unlock our future.

I am not yet fully walking in my destiny in God but I can tell you that I have started down that road and along the way I have learned some things that we all must do to cultivate our destiny.

1. Be dedicated: You will have to be extremely dedicated to your destiny in God to ever see it. The adversary will use many things to try and oppose and trick you.

2. Consecration: We must consecrate ourselves to God and separate from worldly influences to be that vessel that is "meet" or useful to the master. God tells us to be holy as He is holy and to be separate unto Him.

3. Motivation: We must keep ourselves spiritually motivated and excited about where God is taking us. Our motivation must come from the Word of the Lord to us and not from our external circumstances. Our circumstances will vary and many times even contradict God's Word to us. To stay motivated we can't pay attention to our circumstances.

4. Endurance: We are not running the hundred-yard dash, we are running a cross-country race. The strategies for these two types of runners are completely different. Endurance will keep you going no matter how long the race lasts. Don't have the mentality, "I will try this for a while and then if it doesn't work I will give up and try something else." When you start toward your destiny don't look back and never quit!

5. Patience: The Bible says that by two things we inherit the promises of God: faith and patience. Patience will keep you from giving in to spiritual boredom and aborting your destiny because you couldn't wait for it. Whenever I begin to feel impatience trying to come on me I always remember Joseph. He had to wait but it was worth it.

6. Preparation: It will usually take years of preparation for us to be qualified to step into God's awesome plan for us. It takes time for God to develop us for His service and mold us into the servant that He desires. Don't think of the "silent years" of your life as wasted time. They are actually more important than the years of showing. Joseph would not have been ready to rule had he not went through the experiences that he did.

If you will do these things and continue to seek God, I promise that you will be rewarded with the blessings of entering into the land that is more than enough.

Seek for, desire, and long after the perfect will of God for yourself. There will be giants in your land of promise but God will anoint you to take it by force and live in the life that is "more abundant."
