Jeremiah chapter six says that God's Word was a reproach to His people:
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
(Jer. 6:10)
You know, many Christians get offended with different aspects of God's Word. For instance, it is a reproach to some people when they hear the Word concerning financial increase; they fight it with all they have

For others, it is a reproach to hear about God's will to heal them because it violates their traditions.

Back in the '40s and '50s, Oral Roberts came with a fresh revelation from God. God raised up Oral Roberts from the deathbed when he was a teenager. Then He sent him out preaching the revelation that God is a good God and He wants you well.

Preachers all over the nation, especially in his Pentecostal denomination, did not appreciate that good news at all. It was a reproach to them and their traditions. They wanted to kick him out for proclaiming the goodness of God!

Can you imagine being mad at someone because that person told you that God is a good God and that He wants you well? Probably not.

Well, the reason you find it so hard to imagine is that Oral Roberts stayed faithful to that message, despite the opposition of those who weren't glad to hear it.

God also gave His own witness to the truth of that revelation by miraculously healing great multitudes of people. This simple message that God is a good God eventually changed the way a great portion of the Church looks at God's willingness to heal.

What a wonderful revelation! God is a good God. Somebody had to proclaim it in power. Oral Roberts was faithful and obedient to answer God's call in spite of great opposition.
