God loves us better than the best earthly father could and He is the One that showers good gifts upon us. He doesn't change; He is always good!
Is there Scripture that you can give me that will help me to see God as a good God? I grew up without a caring father, and I can't see God as being any different than my earthly father.

It is true that most people's picture of God is the same as their earthly father. This can be good or bad depending on the type of father we had or have now.

The only way to solve this problem is to find out what the Bible has to say about our heavenly Father. We must not compare God with any human.

Let me show you some wonderful Scriptures:
Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
(Matt. 7:9-11)

Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
(James 1:13-17)
God loves us better than the best earthly father could and He is the One that showers good gifts upon us. He doesn't change; He is always good!
