Is it important for a Christian to put the Word of God, or Scriptures, inside his or her heart?

Yes! It is important to read the Word (Bible), hear it taught, preached, and meditate on it in order to have it written upon our hearts. If we are not diligent with the Word of God, many of God's blessings will not be ours.

Let me verify these statements with Scripture: Change Color for Transcription Text
My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings (the Bible). Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
(Prov. 4:20-22 KJV)
The Word of God, put into the midst of our heart, brings life to us. It will change us for the good and bring life to the worst areas of our lives. It even brings health to all of our flesh or our bodies.

Notice what God had to say to an Old Testament saint and realize that the same principle works for us.
This book of the law (first five books of the Old Testament) shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
(Josh. 1:8 KJV)
If Joshua and the people of Israel meditated on the Word of God, and practiced it, then they would be prosperous and have good success in the natural things of life.

If the known Word of God at that time could bring such blessings, then the completed Word of God can bring a greater degree of blessing into our lives.
