"For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body" (James 3:2 KJV).

A mark of a mature (or perfect) man is his self-control. The first thing you should teach boys is self-control, because the first thing you find out about boys is that they have none. They have to learn it. They'll throw things, bite, and run into walls. They'll hit their head, cry a minute, shake it off and do it again. You have to teach a boy to tell himself, "No."

Now, some boys never learn. They'll be 45 years old and still have no control. They see a woman and think they have to have her. It doesn't matter that they already have one. They have no control and will get their life blown apart.

A mature man is one who learns control.

Now, self-control is something God placed in you when you were born again. You can control yourself in any area of your life, if you want to. The Holy Ghost will lead you with wisdom.

Now, even when you have matured in self-control, there are places, gentlemen, that the Lord will lead you away from.

One time I was on a bereavement visit. This person's spouse had died. I was there ministering to them the Word of God. And it was just like somebody grabbed me and started leading me out the door. It was almost like it was a physical hand—get out this house now. It led me right out the door. When a woman came around the corner into the room, I saw why.

The Holy Ghost was getting me out of the house immediately. I got out if that house. But I must have missed it, because I should have sent somebody else that day. The Holy Ghost will lead you where not to go. This is why you have to pray in tongues every day.

The mark of a mature man is his self-control. God has placed this in you as a seed. So put the word of God in your mouth and allow that seed to grow and live big in you.
