Is there such a thing as ghosts and haunted houses? Should we be afraid of them?

The answer to your first question is yes! Let me begin my answer by saying the Bible reveals that ghosts are not the spirits of dead people, as most would suggest. When a person dies they are instantly taken to one of two places (Luke 16:22-31). God does not allow spirits of the dead to walk the earth.

What many people call ghosts are simply evil spirits (demons). When they are given permission, they will inhabit people and homes. Without permission, evil spirits cannot manifest themselves, but with permission they will manifest themselves.

The answer to your second question is no! Notice this reassuring Scripture.
And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues.
(Mark 16:17 NIV)
We are not to fear demons (ghosts). We have the right to drive them out of people and buildings in the name of Jesus. There is no need for Christians to walk around in fear or to be afraid of the dark.

Demons have no right to manifest in your home unless you give them permission. If you know of a home that is said to have ghosts, you can command them to leave in the name of Jesus, and they will go.
